Product Advisory

Introduction

Digital products are shaped by legal decisions taken long before launch - how data moves through a system, what a feature is permitted to claim, where liability sits between platform and user, and which licences govern the underlying stack. Our Product Counselling practice works alongside product, engineering, design, and business teams so that legal input informs how a product is built rather than what has to be undone before it ships. We act as full-stack product counsel: integrated generalists with sufficient depth across privacy, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, technology transactions, and commercial matters to serve as single-threaded owners of a company’s product legal strategy. We advise across consumer internet, SaaS and enterprise software, fintech, gaming, ad-tech, and media and entertainment.

Our Experience

We regularly advise on feature and launch reviews, privacy-by-design assessments and consent architecture under India’s data protection framework, user-facing documentation including terms of service and privacy notices, and the governance of AI and machine-learning features — covering training data provenance, model licensing, output attribution, and disclosure. Our work also spans intellectual property clearance for product names and interfaces, open-source licence review, advertising and marketing claim substantiation, interface design practices and dark-pattern exposure, age-gating and child-safety requirements, and platform and app-store distribution terms.

Because we understand business goals, timelines, and release process, we work to the cadence of the teams we support rather than to a separate legal calendar. Our lawyers are frequently seconded into client product organisations, which gives us direct visibility of the trade-offs product managers face and allows us to distinguish the decisions that require escalation from those that do not. With cross-border experience across multiple jurisdictions, we help clients take a single product to market in several regions while accounting for divergent privacy, consumer protection, content, and sector-specific requirements.
