India’s National Space Transportation Policy – The Right Stuff or Work in Progress? | 29th July 2021 TMT Law Practice partnered with the US-India Business Council (USIBC) and Space & Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) to organise an engaging session titled “India’s National Space Transportation Policy – The Right Stuff or Work in Progress?” Summary: The discussion engaged multiple stakeholders from Global Spaceport Alliance, the Houston Spaceport, Virgin Orbit, SSPI representatives and leading Indian Start-Ups in the commercial space sector such such as Agnikul, Skyroot, and Dhruva Space. The Government of India in the last year has issued 7 draft policy documents aimed at liberalisation of India’s commercial space satellite communications sector. The key takeaways were that the space industry is inherently international, so the Indian policy environment needs to attract international investment, technology, and India’s industry needs access to international markets to be successful.
