Naomi Chandra has been practicing law for over 14 years and has extensive experience in the field of criminal as well as in civil and commercial litigation.
She completed LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, Delhi University in the year 2007 followed by Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights law from National Law School of India University, Bangalore. She completed LL.M. from Kurukshetra University (Distance Learning).
She appears regularly in the trial courts, High Court as well the Supreme Court. She has practiced extensively in the field of criminal law and has dealt with numerous White Collar crimes under statutes like the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, Prevention of Corruption Act, Negotiable Instruments Act, Prevention of Food Adulteration Act. Apart from White Collar crimes. She has dealt with matters pertaining to hard crimes for offences under the Narcotics, Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and other offences under the Indian Penal Code. She has successfully argued and obtained acquittals and bails before various courts. In view of her extensive experience in court, she has been appointed as Amicus Curie by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi in several matters.
She has dealt with a wide range of civil and commercial matters including arbitration, consumer, taxation, IPR and matrimonial laws. She has advised on, and provided legal opinions in matters involving international entities in disputes pertaining to contractual obligations, liability under FEMA and PMLA laws, questions of pre-contract integrity pact and anti-bribery clauses in contracts with the government and questions of territorial jurisdiction.
Ms. Chandra has appeared extensively before various High Courts in the Writ jurisdiction in matters of blacklisting of companies, matters pertaining to educational institutes, insurance companies, habeas corpus and those pertaining to sexual harassment at workplace.
She has been on the criminal panel of the Delhi High Court Legal Service Committee, a statutory body constituted to provide free legal aid to those in need.
She was formerly a Member- Legal, at Justice D.P. Wadhwa’s Committee on Public Distribution System that extensively studied the PDS in India. The final reports prepared with respect to various States have been filed before the Supreme Court of India in W.P.(C) 196/2001.
